"Kun-Yang Lin - theatrical visionary, sensational choreographer and compelling performer." -- Philadelphia Inquirer
Kun-Yang Lin (artistic director) is acknowledged as one of Taiwan's finest choreographers. Described as "deeply spiritual, remarkable" by Dance Magazine, Lin's artistry is an "unexpected" hybrid between Western and Eastern cultures. Since moving to the United States in 1994, Lin has performed with numerous companies including the Doris Humphrey Repertory Dance Company as a principal dancer and the Mary Anthony Dance Theatre, where he also served as associate artistic director. Mr. Lin's choreography has been presented throughout the United States as well as in Asia, Southeast Asia, London, Vienna and Mexico. He has received numerous awards in Taiwan, including the Taipei National Theater's Modern Dance Award, National Endowment for the Arts Choreography Award, the Domestic Prize from the Taipei International Community Cultural Foundation, and the Taiwan Outstanding Artist Award. In 2008, Lin opened Chi Movement Arts Center in Philadelphia, the home and school of his company Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers. During his spring residency, he will conduct an audition and master classes and set a work on students that will be performed in the Spring Program Concert in April.
