University of Wisconsin–Madison welcomes you to the American College Dance Festival Association North-Central Regional Conference March 13 - 16, 2008
UW-Madison cordially invites you and your students to participate in the American College Dance Festival Association's (ACDFA) North-Central Regional Conference, held from Thursday, March 13 through Sunday, March 16, 2008 in Madison, Wisconsin. Conference events will include three and a half days of master classes, networking opportunities for students and faculty members, four adjudication concerts, a Global Dance Concert, a Faculty Concert, and an Informal Concert, as well as a Gala Concert on Sunday March 16. The adjudicators for the festival will be three highly respected representatives of dance arts and education: Jeffrey N. Bullock, Dan Wagoner, and Wendy Woodson. Our adjudicator bios provide more information about these wonderfully accomplished adjudicators. We anticipate an enthusiastic response to our festival, but our space is somewhat limited. Therefore, we will register participants on a first-paid, first-accepted basis. When we have reached maximum capacity, we will establish a waiting list for space that may become available. Please plan to register early. ACDFA values diversity and maintains a commitment to the development of conferences that reflect and give value to the various forms, styles, cultural traditions, and aesthetic dimensions of dance in performance. We encourage diversity in the informal and formally adjudicated concerts, master classes, panel discussions, and lectures. We hope all institutions will plan to attend and participate in the full array of scheduled events, whether or not they intend to present choreography for adjudication. The experience of taking master classes, viewing the concerts, and listening to the adjudicators’ comments, as well as the energetic exchange among dancers and faculty from other schools has always proven to be invaluable for our students. You need not be an ACDFA member to attend the conference. However, if you have not yet joined, we urge you to do so to help further the important work we do for college and university dance programs. A great deal of initial planning has already occurred for the North-Central conference. We now need to know how many colleges plan to participate and which ones wish to perform at the informal and/or adjudicated concerts. We can accommodate approximately 500 participants. If you would like to participate, please complete the registration materials and payment for your total conference fees by November 15, 2007. Please see the Table of Fees for additional information on conference fees. We have negotiated conference or group rates at a number of hotels convenient to the UW campus. To learn more about accommodation options, please see Lodging Information. You will find more information about visiting Madison and the UW campus by exploring our list of Local Links. If you are interested in the adjudication process, please refer to the Adjudication Policies, Adjudication Concert Registration Form, and the Anonymity Reminder. If you choose to adjudicate two pieces, at least one must be choreographed by a student. Time and space will limit the number of pieces we can adjudicate. Please remember that in order to qualify for adjudication, you must be an institutional member in good standing with ACDFA. Please keep in mind the significance of adjudication during this National Festival Year. ACDFA is looking forward to holding its 2008 National Festival in New York City, hosted by Barnard College. Selected adjudicated works from each regional conference will be invited to perform at the Miller Theatre during the National Festival in the upcoming year, June 4-6, 2008 Registration in Lathrop Hall will begin at 8 am Thursday, March 13. Master classes and technical rehearsals will begin at 9 am the same day. The UW-Madison Dance Program hopes you will join us for this exciting conference, and we look forward to meeting you in Madison this coming March! For additional information, please contact:
